Lily's First Day

Here is my sweet Lily on her first day of school. Her teacher is Ms. Molly and she seems to be very happy there. She is even sleeping on her own nap mat. If you know Lily, this is a big deal. So far, no notes sent home for hitting, which is something Lily is know for doing.

Mother's Day Tea

We had a Mother's Day Tea today at EC's school. It was very simple, but very sweet. They made these cute pictures with their own descriptions of their moms. I was thrilled that Emma Claire agreed to wear a dress. She agreed because it had a Razorback on it. Thank you, Gram-Gram!

The Sprinkler

It's hot enough here for the sprinkler. We've played in the sprinkler twice this week. Lily is scared of it, and just wants to eat popsicles. Bring on summer...

Open House

The girls had an Open House at their school. This was just a change for parents to look around the classroom and let their kids show them what they had been learning all year. Emma Claire's room was made into a marketplace in India. They all knew different facts about the country. Jay attended because I was at work. He was able to read a book to her class and she was very proud to have him there. He met up with Miss Lily on the playground. Lily has been described as the "alpha" of her class. In other words, she thinks that she is the boss. We have been so grateful for wonderful teachers that have cared so deeply for our kids. It has been a wonderful year.

Emma Claire and Avery's School Program

These are pictures from April that I am just now getting around to getting posted. Emma Claire and Avery had their end of the year program. We have made huge progress. Emma Claire stayed on the stage the entire time and actually sang! Avery did great too!

Easter Pictures

We spent Easter at my parents. All of my siblings and their kids were there too. We had two Easter Egg Hunts and a great service at church. It was great to be with the cousins and family.

Emma Claire's Birthday

We celebrated Emma Claire's birthday all day Monday. I just love the way kids look when they first wake up. She even got a cupcake for breakfast! I took cupcakes to her class after lunch and then got her out of school a little early. We spent some time together before going to pick up Lily. Avery and Anna joined us at McDonalds for Happy Meals. They had a big time and the birthday girl was pooped by the end of the day. (So was I!)

Lily's Dedication

We celebrated Lily's dedication this past Sunday. It was special because Audrey was dedicated as well. Our small group was so sweet to attend the ceremony to support us.

Updates

Random new pictures of the kids. Wish I had some creative ones, but this is all I have taken recently. I sometimes feel guilty when I see other blogs with all the creative projects that people are doing, but that's just not our reality these days. We are doing fun things, they just aren't always documented and planned out. The kids are doing great. Emma Claire is still loving her school. They recently learned about recycling, and the child has become obsessed! I mean obsessed. She actually cried after we left some of her "trash" at the restaurant, because she wanted to recycle it. She definitely has her own ideas about things, and we like that. It is becoming more of a reality that she will be starting kindergarten in the fall and that she is actually ready to go. Makes me a little sad, but happy that she likes going to school. We will celebrate EC's 5th birthday on Monday. I'll take cupcakes to school and do a few special things. Her "party" this year it just to have 5 friends over and their dads to camp in the backyard.

Lily continues to be our busy bee. I think I had forgotten how busy toddlers were! Lily is our social butterfly. Loves school, her friends, and her precious teachers. She still refuses to say many words, but can do her sign language. (She learned it at school. I can't take credit for it.) She grunts a lot, but understand everything we are saying. She's also started hitting, which is something EC never did. She never has hit at school until Wed. She got a little note sent home and actually had to sit in the "time out" crib. We all had a little chuckle about that. Still refuses to drink milk out of sippy cup, and hasn't had a drop of milk since January 15th, when I took away the bottle. My kids are STUBBORN!!! She's probably going to need to do a stint in rehab to get rid of the pacifier. I'm too tired to deal with that right now.

We are enjoying our new baby Audrey. Emma Claire loves to hold her and Lily thinks she's a doll. So, we have to protect Audrey from little Lily bug. We are also excited for Jennifer and Gill. They are expecting a baby this summer! This will bring a total of 7 grandchildren!!! So much to be grateful for.

Jay and I continue to walk through this interesting phase of life. Jay has been working nights since November. This has made things a little tricky, but we are learning to adjust. We just pretend he's traveling 4 days a week, and that seems to work out pretty good. I'm very busy at work, and for that I am thankful. Although, I would like to be home more, my job is a blessing and I like what I do. Jay and I continue to be humbled through the events of the past 18 months. We have actually stopped praying for clarity and for God to tell us where he wants us. Instead, we are just praying that we would simply trust him. I would be lying if I said this was easy, but I think God is teaching us both this lesson. We are grateful for wonderful famiy, friends, and church that continue to walk with us through this.

Sorry for the long post, but sometimes it's easier to just write out an update.
